Border Protection Aims
Representatives further stated that "The goal of law enforcement is to confiscate the maximum possible quantities of contraband and to apprehend coordinators and involved individuals so that these practices become economically unsustainable and present no risk to commercial air travel."
Regional Security Context
Such border infiltrations occur during a period of growing anxiety in Europe following multiple unmanned aircraft violations that have created aviation problems across the continent.
Similar occurrences in nearby states have caused EU officials to fast-track conversations about improving airspace protection throughout the region.
