'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses after the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from distance, and the defender immediately hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an incredible recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way Orient attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they are adept at manage and neutralize a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and attention just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the past five games, including two matches fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I realized I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
